Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 April 2026
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Previous Keeper. By accessing or using www.previouskeeper.com or any related services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use our service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Previous Keeper in any capacity, you enter into a legally binding agreement with Previous Keeper (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms govern your access to and use of our service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use of the service following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Previous Keeper is a vehicle monitoring service. Upon subscription, we periodically scan publicly accessible UK vehicle marketplaces (including AutoTrader, eBay Motors, and PistonHeads) for Vehicle Registration Marks (VRMs) that you provide. When a match is detected, we send you an email alert containing a link to the relevant listing.
We act solely as a monitoring and notification intermediary. We do not list, sell, broker, or facilitate the sale of any vehicle.
3. Owner Connection Service
Previous Keeper offers a feature that allows current vehicle owners to discover whether any subscribers are monitoring their vehicle, and to connect with those subscribers directly.
- Owner Lookup. Current vehicle owners may enter their Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) to check if any Previous Keeper subscribers are monitoring it. This lookup is free and does not require an account. Only an anonymised count and general information (e.g. how long someone has been searching) is displayed. No subscriber names or contact details are revealed at this stage.
- One-Time Connection Fee. If interested parties are found, the vehicle owner may pay a one-time, non-refundable fee to connect with them. Upon payment, contact details (email addresses) are shared between both parties automatically. This fee covers all current and future connections for that specific VRM.
- Subscriber Visibility. Subscribers can control whether they are visible to vehicle owners via the “Visible to current owner” setting in their vehicle preferences. This setting is enabled by default. By leaving this setting enabled, subscribers consent to their email address being shared with the current vehicle owner upon that owner’s payment. Subscribers may disable this setting at any time.
- Email Alerts. Vehicle owners may leave their email address to be notified if someone begins monitoring their vehicle in future. This email is used solely for this notification purpose.
- No Intermediary Role. Previous Keeper facilitates introductions only. We are not a party to any subsequent negotiation, sale, or transaction between the vehicle owner and the subscriber. All dealings after the introduction are solely between those parties.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
- Annual Fee. The service is billed on a yearly basis. Current pricing is displayed on our website and confirmed at checkout before any payment is taken.
- Auto-Renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew every 12 months unless cancelled before the renewal date. You will receive a reminder email prior to renewal.
- Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from within your Garage dashboard. Monitoring continues until the end of the current paid billing period; no further charges will be made after cancellation.
- Refunds. Due to the immediate allocation of server resources, scanning capacity, and third-party API costs upon subscription, we are generally unable to offer refunds once a monitoring cycle has commenced. Exceptions may be made at our sole discretion for documented technical failures on our part. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law.
5. No Guarantee of Results
Previous Keeper is a monitoring service, not a guaranteed vehicle-finding service. You acknowledge and agree that:
- We cannot guarantee that any specific vehicle will be found or that alerts will be delivered within a particular timeframe.
- Detection depends entirely on the vehicle being publicly listed on a scanned marketplace with its VRM visible within the listing.
- We are not responsible for vehicles sold privately, through social media, in closed groups, at auction without public listing, or in any listing where the VRM is obscured, omitted, or altered.
- Scanning frequency, marketplace coverage, and detection reliability may change over time as third-party platforms update their structure or policies.
6. Acceptable Use and User Conduct
You represent and warrant that you have a legitimate personal interest in any vehicle you submit for monitoring, for example a vehicle you previously owned, gifted, or have a genuine connection to.
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination without refund, and may be reported to the relevant authorities:
- Using the service to stalk, harass, surveil, or locate any individual or their whereabouts via a vehicle.
- Tracking a vehicle for the purpose of cloning its registration plate.
- Any use that violates the UK Computer Misuse Act 1990, the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, the Data Protection Act 2018, or any other applicable law.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are in breach of this clause, without prior notice.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, design, software, and trademarks on Previous Keeper are owned by or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Previous Keeper is not responsible for the accuracy, mechanical condition, legal status, or ownership history of any vehicle or advert found via our alerts.
- We provide links to third-party listings as a convenience only. Any transaction resulting from an alert is solely between the user and the seller. We are not a party to any such transaction.
- Our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profits or opportunity.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
